truths to speak over your anxiety
Sis — I don’t know your “relationship status” with anxiety. But I do know this: Anxiety has it’s hand in a lot of people’s lives… whether it’s a big or small presence, it’s still there.
Life is full of anxiety — over school, relationships, health, finances and more. And while I could sit here and share breathing techniques and advice from counselors I’ve seen… there’s nothing like turning to the Truth and letting it set you free.
So I wanted to share some of my favorite truths from the Bible for you to hear — write down — and put into action in your life. We need to be reminded of who God is and that He has the power to help us through any anxieties. We need to remember that God’s Word is powerful enough to change our lives.
Store these verses in your heart. A life with Jesus isn’t going to magically erase anxiety, but it will ease its hold on your life. Hand over your worries to Him and trust.
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
(Isaiah 41:10)
“Do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? But if God clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?”
Matthew 6:25 & 30
** If God cares enough to take care of the grass, how much more will He care for us?
“I sought the Lord and He answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to Him are radiant and their faces shall never be ashamed.”
Psalm 34:4-5
** We can’t overcome our anxieties without first seeking out the One who can deliver us.
“When the cares of my heart are many, Your consolations cheer my soul.”
Psalm 94:19
“For I am sure that neither dear nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:38-39
** NOTHING separate you from His love. Rest in that security. Anxiety can’t remain in a heart that is holy confident in Him.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7
** Entrust yourself to the hands of your Heavenly Father. Children of God aren’t called to a life of anxiety — they’re called to pray against it. We have God’s peace watching over our lives. Know God is in control. When anxiety creeps in, strive to make prayer your first move.
Psalm 23
** Read this entire Psalm. We can be deeply confident in God’s care for us. Faithfulness and steadfastness are a part of who He is. Rest — trust — be still. Let Him be your shepherd.
